Position Summary:

The Distribution Team Lead will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the warehouse and distribution team, ensuring the efficient and safe handling, storage, and movement of materials, products, and finished goods. This role will supervise the distribution team while ensuring that all operations are completed in compliance with safety standards, food safety regulations, and company policies. The Distribution Team Lead will work closely with production and logistics to ensure seamless product flow and on-time deliveries.

Scheduled hours for this 3rd shift position are 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM. The pay rate starts at $23.00/hr.


Job Responsibilities:

Team Supervision:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of material handling operators, forklift operators, and other distribution associates to achieve operational goals.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills, operational needs, and priorities.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, address concerns, and promote teamwork.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing feedback and coaching as necessary.
  • Ensure staff are properly trained on safety practices, equipment usage, and material handling procedures.

Warehouse & Distribution Operations:

  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and material handling equipment to transport materials and finished products within the warehouse and between departments.
  • Ensure that materials are stored, organized, and properly staged for shipping in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Supervise the loading and unloading of materials and finished goods from trucks, ensuring the correct product is shipped to customers.
  • Ensure accurate inventory tracking, including performing regular counts and verifying product quantities in coordination with the inventory management team.
  • Manage product staging, packaging, and shipping to meet customer orders and delivery schedules.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations related to product handling, storage, and distribution.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and report malfunctions to the maintenance team.
  • Ensure team members adhere to all company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing safety training and lead safety meetings.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with the Production Supervisor, Inventory Control, and Logistics teams to ensure timely product flow from production to distribution.
  • Ensure clear communication of inventory needs, production delays, and shipment requirements.
  • Provide real-time updates to the Distribution Supervisor and management on operational progress, challenges, and any potential delays.

Continuous Improvement & Administrative Duties:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce errors, and improve product flow.
  • Assist with inventory management tasks, including reporting discrepancies, tracking material movements, and maintaining accurate documentation for shipments.
  • Complete daily reports related to team performance, inventory levels, and safety inspections.
  • Support lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse and distribution processes.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

              • Strong leadership and team management skills.

              • Solid understanding of food manufacturing process and safety regulations.
              • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
              • Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
              • Solid understanding of warehouse management and inventory control practices.


              Education & Experience:

              • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
              • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in warehouse or distribution operations, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
              • Forklift certification required or the ability to obtain certification.
              • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or regulated environment is highly preferred.

              Work Environment:

              • Warehouse or production facility setting.
              • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
              • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.


              Physical demands:

              • Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
              • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
              • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
              • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
