Position Summary:
The Packaging Operator is responsible for efficiently operating packaging machinery, ensuring that products are packaged according to specifications, and maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot minor issues with packaging equipment. Scheduled hours for this 1st shift position are 6:30AM - 3:00PM, Monday - Friday. The pay rate for the Packaging Operator starts at $21.50/hr.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate Packaging Equipment: Set up, operate, and adjust packaging machinery to package products accurately and efficiently. This may include filling, sealing, labeling, and coding machines.
- Quality Control: Inspect products and packaging materials for defects or inconsistencies. Ensure that packaging meets company and industry standards, including correct labeling and packaging integrity.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on packaging machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team.
- Monitor Production: Track production rates and ensure that packaging processes meet production goals. Make adjustments to machinery settings to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of packaging operations, including quantities packaged, materials used, and any issues encountered. Complete required documentation and reports.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure smooth production flow. Communicate any concerns or feedback to improve packaging processes.
- Documented Inspections: Complete and maintain accurate records of documented inspections, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by monitoring and reporting on the usage of packaging materials. Ensure that materials are stored properly and replenished as needed.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor technical issues with packaging machinery. Escalate more complex issues to the maintenance team or supervisor.
- Other Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or production manager to support the team and ensure efficient operations.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in packaging machinery is a plus.
- Previous experience in a packaging or production role
Work Environment:
Production facility setting.
- Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
- Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
- Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
