Position Summary:
The Palletizer Operator is responsible for operating automated or manual palletizing equipment to stack finished products onto pallets in a safe and efficient manner. The operator ensures the proper organization of products for shipment, verifies accuracy, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and cleanliness in the production area.
Scheduled hours for this 1st shift position are 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday. The pay rate starts at $20.00/hr.
Job Responsibilities:
Palletizing Finished Products:
- Operate automated or manual palletizing equipment to stack boxes or products onto pallets.
- Ensure products are stacked securely and evenly to prevent damage during storage or shipment.
- Verify the correct quantity of products per pallet and ensure that each pallet is packed according to specifications.
Quality Control:
- Inspect pallets and products to ensure packaging integrity and that all items meet quality standards.
- Report any discrepancies or issues with pallet loads, such as damaged goods or incorrect packing, to the supervisor.
- Perform regular checks to ensure the proper labeling of pallets and that products are correctly identified for shipment.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Operate palletizing machines and associated equipment, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of palletizing equipment to ensure it runs efficiently.
- Troubleshoot minor issues with palletizers, conveyors, or other equipment, and report more serious problems to the maintenance team.
Material Handling:
- Assist with moving pallets to designated storage areas or loading docks.
- Monitor inventory levels of materials needed for palletizing, such as stretch film or pallet supplies, and notify supervisors when restocking is required.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe lifting techniques.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety guidelines in all aspects of work.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that palletizing equipment and surrounding areas are free of debris.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other production line staff, including packagers and machine operators, to ensure efficient workflow.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to resolve any operational issues or inefficiencies.
Record Keeping:
- Document and report production data, including pallet quantities, downtime, and any equipment maintenance or issues.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained for inventory and palletized products to ensure proper traceability.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail to ensure products are accurately stacked and safely palletized.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot automated palletizing machines and related equipment.
- Basic math skills to verify pallet counts and ensure accurate quantities.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards is a plus.
Education & Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in food production, is preferred. Experience as a Palletizer Operator or in a similar production or material handling role is a plus.
- Certifications: Forklift certification and food safety training (e.g., HACCP) are a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
Production facility setting.
- Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
- Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
- Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
