Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly strategic and results-driven Director of Category Management to lead our category management function. This role will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive growth and profitability across key retail customers. The Director will manage a team of three Category Managers and work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Strategy teams to deliver actionable recommendations based on data-driven analysis that would grow the category, the 1440 Foods and the retailers businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze consumer, market, and competitive data to uncover opportunities for growth and innovation.
• Develop and implement category management strategies to grow 1440 Foods and the retailers businesses
• Lead and mentor a team of three Category Managers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with key retail partners, particularly Costco, Walmart, and Kroger, to influence category and merchandising decisions.
• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to align category strategies with business objectives.
• Utilize syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, POS data) and shopper insights to develop fact-based recommendations.
• Lead category reviews and joint business planning sessions with key retail accounts.
• Monitor industry trends and customer behaviors to anticipate shifts in the marketplace.
• Drive continuous improvement in category management processes, tools, and capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in category management, shopper insights, or related roles within the CPG industry.
• Proven experience working with major retailers, particularly Costco, Walmart, and Kroger.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
• Expertise in syndicated data analysis (Nielsen, IRI) and shopper analytics.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of initiative.
