Position Summary:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating the daily shipping operations to ensure timely, accurate, and safe shipment of food products. This role involves preparing documentation, verifying orders, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.

Scheduled hours for this 1st shift position are 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday. The pay rate starts at $23.00/hr.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading, invoices, packing slips).
  • Schedule and coordinate outbound shipments with carriers and logistics partners.
  • Verify outgoing shipments for accuracy in product, quantity, and labeling.
  • Ensure all shipments meet customer requirements and regulatory guidelines, including FDA and USDA compliance.
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment as needed.
  • Inspect packaging for damage or tampering and report any issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including documentation, tracking, and inventory adjustments.
  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure smooth handoffs and prevent delays.
  • Perform regular audits of shipping and receiving logs and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Adhere to food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
  • Support inventory cycle counts and assist with receiving duties as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

            • Proven experience as a shipping clerk, warehouse associate, or similar role.
            • Knowledge of shipping procedures, documentation, and inventory systems is a plus.
            • Familiarity with shipping software (e.g., FedEx, UPS, ERP/WMS systems).
            • Basic understanding of food safety regulations and practices.
            • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
            • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
            • Good communication and teamwork abilities.


            Education & Experience:

              • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or relevant certification preferred.
              • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in shipping/logistics, preferably in a food manufacturing or warehouse environment.
              • Valid forklift operator certification or ability to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.


              Work Environment:

              • Warehouse or production facility setting.
              • Must wear required PPE while in all warehouse and manufacturing areas.
              • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
              • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.


              Physical demands:

              • Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
              • Occasional ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
              • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
